Chalk Effect Sakura

Fourth grade artists have been examining the effects of color theory and line in art.  Through this project students used the edges of cardboard dipped in paint to create a Japanese style cherry blossom tree rich in line and texture. Next, the students thoughtfully chose and mixed colored chalks, practicing blending and the effect of a particular color of chalk in relation to another tint, shade, or color. Sakura blossoms were then added with a dabbling brush technique.
